Taj Umaid Bhawan Palace is built by Maharaja Umair Singh of Rathore Dynasty. It is built in 26 acres and lies just 4 KMs from the Jodhpur airport and 5 Kms from the Jodhpur Railway Station. The Umaid Bhawan is known for its magnificent views and royalty. This golden-yellow monument encapsulates various stories in itself. Its heritage and hospitality is kept alive by the Taj Hotels group who are now a part of the Palace and pamper guests with their amazing services. Umaid Bhawan Palace was built just before the Independence of India. Its foundation was laid in 1929 and got completed in 1943. The vision of Maharaja Umaid Singh was to create it the largest private residence in the world. For this reason he specially hired the British engineer H.V Lancaster who planned the building.
Umaid Bhawan is built in 26 acres and has got 347 rooms, throne chamber, private meeting hall, Durbar Hall, banquet hall, dining hall, library, swimming pool and spa, billiards room, four tennis courts, two marble squash rooms and some long passages. The gardens has come beautiful peacocks roaming freely. There is no denying fact that Umaid Bhawan Place provides a glimpse to the rich heritage, history and memories.
