Tungnath

Located in the Chamoli district of Uttrakhand, Tungnath is a charming location that has something for everyone, regardless you are a hardcore devotee or an adventure lover or a nature lover. Though it is place full of natural attractions like trekking routes, high mountains, lush green valleys and more but the biggest attraction here is the Tungnath Temple.

The Tungnath Temple is one of the Panch Kedar and has a great religious significance. A number of stories have been related to this serene place. It is believed that Lord Shiva’s hands came to rest when he was trying to peter out from Pandavas after they killed Kaurvas. It is the place where Lord Shiva liberated Pandavas by releasing their sins.

The temple is constructed in the North Indian style and its interiors are made of marble. It is small in size and only 10 people can be accommodated inside at a time. In the temple, in front of the Lord Shiva’s idol, a stone picture of Nandi is placed. And on the right side of the Lord Shiva’s idol, Lord Ganesha’s picture has been installed. Beside the main temple, there are some small temples where visitors can experience a deep peace of mind.
