Pt. G.B. (Gobind Ballabh) Pant High Altitude Zoo is the only zoo located in the state of Uttarakhand and is located in the hilly landscape known as Sher ka Danda. It lies at an altitude of around 2100 meters above the sea level and is just 2km away from the Tallital Bus Stand.

The zoo is loaded with beautiful flora which also includes some horticulture, ornamental and flowering plants like roses, acacia, hibiscus and acer. There is also a plenty of oak plantation in this area. Talking about the fauna, the zoo is a home to many species of animals including the endangered species also. Some of the animals found here are snow leopard, Tibetan wolf, goral, Himalayan black bear and the Siberian tiger. It is also a habitat for the beautiful birds.
The zoo has been built in the memory of a great Indian freedom fighter and is named after his name only. Built with the intention of protecting and conserving the wildlife, the zoo was established in 1984 but was opened to public only in 1995. The zoo is open all days except Mondays, Deepawali and Holi. So, you can visit anytime as per your convenience.
