Jaisalmer’s second most famous spot after the Jaisalmer Fort is Patwon Ki Haveli, which is not only a beautiful building, but rather is a mix of five diverse Havelis, each with its very own particular nature. Patwon Ki Haveli, with its novel design and architecture is a standout amongst the most noteworthy Havelis in Jaisalmer, and Rajasthan. With its development of yellow sandstone reflecting that of almost every other working in Jaisalmer, Patwon Ki Haveli emerges because of its uncommon and brilliant structure.
This haveli was constructed by Guman Chand Patwa in the year 1805. He was a rich trader of jewelery and find brocades. Patwa was a rich man and a notable broker of his time and he could manage the cost of and hence arrange the development of independent stories for each of his 5 children. These were finished in the traverse of 50 years. Each of the five houses were developed in the initial 60 years of the nineteenth century. Patwon ki Haveli is located in the centre of the city and tops the list of tourists visiting Rajasthan. The haveli is famous for its ornate wall paintings, gateways and doorways.
