Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden

The garden of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah is located in the heart of city Lucknow. It is also famous as the garden of Prince of Wales or zoological garden. The park was started in the year 1921. The layout, cages, and buildings of the park was designed by the trust of the chief engineer of the Lucknow Mr. Lintle Bogla. The park has 26 buildings which were constructed from the period 1921 to 1926. The park covers an area of around 71.6 acres. It is one among the other largest zoo in India.

The zoo has 1000 animals and hundred species approximately. Many people from all over the India visit this place to enjoy this beautiful Zoo. It is said that more than 11 lakh people visit this zoo every year. There are many wild animals in the zoo including Tiger, Giraffe, big squirrels, giant elephants, deer, Rhinoceros and many others. The garden has beautiful surrounding area. There are many perfect spots for photography. The tourists can also enjoy the bird photography. It is also the perfect place for the bird lovers. The tourists can see many migratory birds in the park. The park is also the home of many rare and wild animals.

The nearest airport is in Amausi which is just 20 km away from the park. The nearest railway station is Charbagh Railway station. It is just 15 km away from the zoo. The tourists can also enjoy shopping at the shopping mall which is just 2 km away from the park. The park remains open from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The park remains closed on Monday. There is no entry fee in the park.
