Nandankanan Zoological Park

Situated around 20 km from Bhubneshwar and spread over an area of 400 hectares, Nandankanan Zoological Park is the most picturesque park where you can discover distinctive flora and fauna in the natural habitat. Another name of this zoo is “Garden of Pleasure” that is just perfect to define its beauty. It is the first Indian zoo which is the member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquarium.

White Tigers are the main animals in the Nandankanan Zoological Park and their current number in the zoo is 34. In additions, the park is home to 81 species of birds, 18 varieties of reptiles and 67 varieties of mammals. The range of animals that can be frequently seen here includes Asiatic lion, white tigers, gharials, black panthers, Indian pangolin, green-winged macaws, black buck and more.

The Nandankanan Zoological Park offers a range of facilities that includes boating, aerial ropeway, car cable, white tiger and lion safaris, reptile park and more. Another big attraction of this park is Kangia, a salt water lake spread over 50 hectares. It attracts a large number of migratory birds. All these offerings have made the Nandankanan Zoological Park a famous picnic spot. The best time to visit there is October to March.
