Lord Krishna-The Hindu God

Lord Krishna is the reincarnation of Lord Vishnu and he is the divine being who people worship in India. He is the Hindu God of love and compassion. Many Hindu sacred texts have tales and references about Lord Krishna, one of the most notable is the epic poem the Mahabharata. He is also a principal figure in the Hindu text called Bhagavata Purana which dates back to the 10th century B.C. In the Hindu holy book of Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna has a prominent role. He was the charioteer for the warrior Arjuna who was a Hindu leader. He was offering moral and military counsel to him.

Lord Krishna is depicted as a blue skinned god holding a flute and he is accompanied by a cow. He is one of the most widely revered and worshipped Hindu deity. He is known by several names like Mukunda, Vasudeva, Govinda, Madhusudhana, etc. He is sometimes depicted as a small child doing playful pranks.

According to the Hindu Holy Texts, mother earth was unable to bear the burden of sins committed by humans on earth. Mother Earth appealed for help to Lord Brahma who is the creator of all beings. Lord Brahma then prays to Lord Vishnu who assures both of them that he will soon return to earth to annihilate tyrannical forces.

To fight the wrong-doings of King Kamsa, Lord Krishna was born. Kamsa was the ruler of Mathura who was one such tyrant who incited fear and terror among people. Kamsa’s sister Devaki was married to Vasudev and on the same day, a voice came from the sky that said that the eighth son of Devaki will destroy Kamsa.

In this fear, Kamsa killed all her children. The eighth kid was Lord Krishna. Vasudev managed to escape the prison with Krishna and he gave the baby Krishna to a family of cowherds and exchanges it with a small girl. He continues to grow with his new family and later he did many huge miracles in his life. He is worshipped in many households of India.
