Jal Mahal was built by Maharaja Madho Singh. This Mahal was built to serve as a lodge for Maharaja Madho Singh’s duck hunting parties. The Jal Mahal lies just 5 Kms from the center of the Jaipur City. It is easily accessible by autos and taxis. If you are travelling by bus, then the nearest bus stop is Shahpura Bagh, which is just 200 m from the Jal Mahal. The Mahal was declared as a protected area by the government. Soon after then, the entry to this beautiful place has been restricted.
If you are planning to visit the Jal Mahal in Jaipur, then the best time to visit is October when the weather is pleasant. It lies on the way to Amer Fort. You can visit there in the morning or in the evening because this is the time when the palace is entirely lit up and provides a magnificent view. Though the Mahal seems to be a single story but there are four submerged levels there. It can hold back millions of litres of water. There is a garden as well which has got semi-octagonal towers in its every corner. You can also visit there during the Monsoon season when the views are more captivating and refreshing.
