Gulmarg is a project of ropeway that is located in the Jammu and Kashmir. This project is started by the French organization Pomagalski with the government of Jammu and Kashmir. It is one of the highest and longest cable car plans in Asia.
The Gulmarg is located at the prime location of Srinagar. It is around 55 km away from the Srinagar. Earlier, it is known as Gaurimarg. This name was given by the Sultan Yusuf Shah in the 16th century. He got impressed by its wildflowers and beautiful green slopes. It is not only a resort on the mountain but it is world’s highest golf course. Its beauty is really amazing. It is located at the base of Mt. Apharwat on a flat plateau which is 2,653m in altitude. There are 2 different stages in a ride. The ride from Gulmarg to Kongdoori takes 9 minutes to complete. The second ride from Kongdoori to Apharwat Peak takes 12 minutes to complete. It is one of the highest served ski lift resorts. It covers a total distance of 5km by aerial. The tourists can run over the snowfields as there are also many opportunities offered by the Gulmarg.
The first ride starts at 2990m and ends at 3100m with 400 m vertical rise. The lift can travel 5 meters per second. It can take 1500 people in an hour. The tourists can view various ways through the trees and slopes. The cost of this one-way first ride is Rs 100.
The second view gives more beautiful views of the Himalayas. It gives you the closer view of Apharwat Mountain. It starts at Kongdoor with 880 m vertical rise. It ends onto Apharwat Mount at 3980m height and took 600 peoples in an hour. There is also a 30 minutes trek for the tourists. You can also view the LOC and the part of the Kashmir from this point. The Nanda Devi temple and Pir Panjal range is also visible from this point.For the second phase, the cost of the one-way ride is Rs. 250. You can also make a pass of Rs 1000 for a day. Its opening and closing time is 10 am to 5 pm. You can also pre-book its tickets online from its site. The visitors should have a photo identity for getting they pass.
