Govind Pashu Vihar National Park and Sanctuary is located in Uttarakhand. Initially, it was established as a wildlife sanctuary only and was also termed as a National Park in 1955. The main reason behind terming this sanctuary as a park was the conservation of natural flora and fauna lying in the upper Himalayan region.
The park is quite famous among the Ayurveda practitioners due the various types of medicinal plants found here. The other plant species that you can find in abundance here are Euphorbia, Rhododendron and Oak. The sanctuary is also a home to many species of animals which include musk deer, brown bear, snow leopard, goral, Himalayan Palm, Indian Porcupine, golden eagle and more.
If you like adventures, you would be happy to know that the park has four trekking trails among which Har Ki Dun is the most popular one. However, other famous attractions which you can visit here are Ruinsiriya, Viswanath Temple, Jamdar Glacier, Maneri Dam, Duryodhana Temple and Morinda Tal. For best experience, the park can be visited anytime from April to June and September to November.
