One of the famous momentums in the Itmadpur town of Agra is the Chini ka Rauza. It located near the Itmad Ud Daulah tomb at a distance of just 1 km. In 1635, it was built on the eastern side of the river Yamuna. It is named as Chini Ka Rauza as the tiles that are used in the decoration has been brought from the china. The momentum was dedicated to the famous poet and prime minister of that time Allama Afzal Khan.
The momentum is designed and decorated with Afghan style and Islamic inscriptions. The momentum has 7 concentric rings on one side of the tomb. The momentum is a mixture of the architecture of Indo and Persian. It looks beautiful with tiles of multi-color and shiny Chini. It is the only momentum that use Persian architecture and in which glassy tiles are used in the decoration. The momentum also uses the rectangular shaped stones in the construction of the momentum. The walls of the tomb are decorated with Islamic inscriptions.
The momentum has an octagonal shape. Earlier it has 2 main gates located on its northern and eastern side. It is a three-storied momentum. But only one gate left. It has beautiful interior and exterior architecture. The brackets, chajja, and balconies are decorated beautifully with new additions. The tiles of orange and blue color are used to decorate the arches of the momentum.
The best time to visit the momentum is during winters from November to March. There is very high temperature during summers. The momentum remains open from sunrise to sunset. It opens in all days of the week expect the national holidays. The momentum is free of any entry fee.
