The Chaukhandi Stupa is a very popular monastery of Buddhist. It is one of the most important Buddhist culture momentums in India. It was built on the place where Lord Buddha gets the lessons first time from bodh Gyan to Sarnath. It is located in the Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh.
During 4rth to the 6th century, the temple was thought to be built like a terraced temple. Later, it was modified by the Later Govardhan to the shape it has today. It is also said that in 1589 AD, this stupa was built by Akbar in the honor of his father Humayun.
It is an octagonal shaped tower. It is the holiest and most visited tourist’s Buddhist spot in India. The visitors can feel the spirituality in the air around it. The structure of the stupa is constructed with the help of bricks. This makes it easy to break. It is a three terrace structure. Each terrace is 12 x 12 feet in height and length. The total height of the stupa is 200 feet. It is the best place for meditation.
