Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the foothills of Himalayas and is spread over an area of about 47.04 sq. kms. It is one of the most beautiful and scenic places of Kumaon. Now, well-known for its flora and fauna, it got its status of a wildlife sanctuary in 1988 only.
The benedictory hills, mumbling water streams, enchanting meadows and the beautiful orchards, you can experience almost everything over here. It is home to over 200 species of birds which include both native and migratory birds. Visitors can admire a large variety of playful birds in every nook and cranny of the sanctuary. The sanctuary has also been declared as an “Important Bird Area” by “Bird Life International”.
As the place blooms with thick foliage, it offers a great opportunity for experiencing camping, hiking and nature walks. Trekking through the criss-crossed roads lets you have a thrilling experience. In order to get the maximum of your trip, you should visit the sanctuary from February to April and from October to November. Other nearby attractions that you can visit here are Kausani, Bineshwar Mahadev Temple, Ranikhet and Chowkori.
