It is situated on a Bangira hilltop. It is constructed by the Raja Bir Singh Deo in the 17th century. It was the home place of Rani Lakshmi Bai. After the death of Rani Lakshmi Bai, the fort has been handed to the Maharaja of Scindia by the British. One of the most attractive things in the fort is the tank of Karak Bijli. It is one of most attractive thing for the tourists. The fort also has a museum inside it. The museum has a number of statues.
The tourists can also come to know about the history of Bundelkhand. The fort also has the temple of Raghunath and Maha Lakshmi. The fort can be accessed by using its ten different gates. Some of the most popular gates are a gate of Laxmi, Khanderao, unnao, Orchha and many other gates as well. The fort is located on an area of 15 acres. It has a length of 312 meters and width of 225 meters. It has 20 feet thick walls which are made up of granite. It is constructed by using the architecture design of north India.
There are many spots to visit in the fort for the tourists including Ganesh Mandir, Temple of Shiva, Cannon, Panch Mahal and many others. The cannon in the fort is 5.5 x 1.8 meters in size. The tourists can visit the Ganesh Mandir, which is the marriage place of Rao and Lakshmi Bai.
On the basis of construction, the fort can be divided into 3 also parts including Baradari, Shankergarh and Panch Mahal. There are many other ancient things in the fort to visit. The entrance fee in the fort is Rs 15. The fort also organized shows on the basis of Rani Laxmi Bai’s life.
