India Gate, also famous as the All India War Memorial, is located in New Delhi and is dedicated to the 82000 soldiers who died during the World War I and the Anglo-Afghan War. The memorial not only bears the names of the Indian soldiers but it is also devoted to the British soldiers who were killed during these wars.

India Gate was built in 1931 and was designed by Edwin Lutyens. Due to its arch-like structure, the monument is compared to the France’s Arch de Triomphe. Underneath the archway, there is the structure Amar Jawan Jyoti which is the symbol of immortal Indian soldiers. It is also called “the flame of the immortal soldier”.

India Gate is famous for hosting the Republic and Independence Day parade where all the attendants pay their homage to the martyrs. Due to its great historical significance and the amazing building structure, it has become a popular tourist attraction in Delhi.
