The Buland Darwaza is located in the Fatehpur Sikri, Agra. It was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1601 for memorizing success over the Khandesh. It was completed in 12 years. The architecture design of the Buland Darwaza is the mixture of the style of both Hindus and Persian. It is a very big monument with a massive gate. It is the supreme example of the architecture of Mughals. It is built by using red and buff sandstone. It is also one of the highest gate in the world. It is also famous as the gate of glory. It works as an entrance gate to the mosque.

There are around 43 steps before reaching the gate. The tower of the gate is higher than the court of the mosque. It is one of the most beautiful towers in Fatehpur Sikri. It is constructed symmetrically with great commitment and Passion. On the top of the gate, it has big size of kiosks. These are constructed with the help of marble of white and black color. The gateway is semi-octagonal is a shape.

It has 15 stories. The gateway has wings on its 2 stories on both sides of the gateway. The gateway is 54 meters in height. The top of the gateway has 13 small domed shaped kiosks and 3 kiosks behind it. There is a small tower, which surrounds the gateway. The walls of the gate were designed beautifully.

The Buland Darwaza is just 43 km away from the Taj Mahal. Winter season is the best time to visit this place. The opening time of the Buland Darwaza is from 8 AM to 7 PM on all days of the week. The entry fee for the Indians is Rs 10 and for the foreigner is Rs 750. The nearest railway station is in Fatehpur Sikri and Agra is the nearest airport. The tourists can also take buses or book any taxi to reach this place.
