The Chemrey Monastery is located in the east location of Leh. It is just 40 km from Leh. It is a Buddhist monastery, which is more than 400 years old. In 1644, Lama Tagsang Raschen founded this monastery. It belongs to the order of Drugpa monastic and is dedicated to the Sengge Namgyal king. This monastery is located on the top of Rocky Mountain. From the monastery, the visitors can view the cultivated terraced fields and desert. This monastery is the home place for many lamas.
On the right-hand side of the central courtyard, there is the main hall. It has the 4rth and 5th life images of the Stagtshang Raspa. On the right wall, there is the wall painting of Sakyamuni with his two followers. There were also two large paintings of mandalas of Kalachakra and Akshobhya. There is also 29 Buddhist scriptures volume. The title of the pages is written in gold and silver. There is also a lama temple located on the steps located on the right side. It has a number of lama images, the religion of Buddhist, religious text of Buddhist and many others.
There are many other temples located at some more steps. The visitors can view many different statues located in this monastery. It has many best paintings of the temple. All the walls of the monastery have beautiful pictures. The other main attraction point of the monastery is the Padmasambhava with having the height of one-story. It spreads Buddhism in all parts of the Tibet through the instrument. It also helps to transfer the Pali and Sanskrit scriptures into the Tibetan. The monastery also has a good collection of historical Buddha, Buddhist scriptures, and many other things. There are also many other nearby beautiful spots for the tourists including Takthok Monastery, Stakna Monastery, and Hemis Monastery.
